报告内容：

Our home planet is undergoing an unprecedented period of urbanization, a trend that is expected to persist over the next few decades. To achieve sustainable urban development, it is crucial to gain a deeper understanding of the complex urban systems that emerge during this urbanization process. This requires integrated efforts across various disciplines, methodologies, and scales.In this seminar, I will present our research focused on characterizing both historical and future urban dynamics, as well as the associated environmental changes, from local to global scales, through the use of satellite remote sensing observations and advanced modeling capabilities. Additionally, I will discussion the impact of urban environmental changes on building energy demand.The resulting products, models, and findings from our study will be invaluable for enhancing our understanding of the interconnected urban-nature system amid urbanization, particularly in the context of climate change and sustainability.

报告人简介：

周宇宇，香港大学地理系教授，美国科学促进会会士(AAAS Fellow)。多年来主要从事城市化和可持续发展等方面的科学研究。以第一/通讯作者在PNAS等权威期刊发表SCI文章80多篇，Google Scholar文章总引用20,000多次，H-index为74，连续入选科睿唯安“全球高被引科学家”。作为首席科学家和合作首席科学家主持了美国国家基金委等机构的20多个科研项目。目前担任Earth System Science Data（IF=11.6）主编，Geo-Spatial Information Science、Ecological Processes等杂志副主编。受邀担任美国宇航局等机构的项目评审专家，以及联合国粮农组织、世界银行等国际机构咨询专家。
